What help you have been Vae-primat! I am sure you translated my words well. Very Happy
I want to answer Emma's question about why most Americans do not learn a second language possibly.
I can tell you that there are many children who grow up in the United States learning two languages. In my home, we are bilingual, and our son has learned both Spanish and English since birth. Also, there are many opportunities during the school years to learn a second language, but sadly most Americans never master a foreign language as we tend to not get as many opportunties to use it I suppose. As you may know, Americans spend much of their time visiting other parts of our nation, rather than going abroad. This is because our country is so vast, that there is so much to see in the U.S. and on the North American continent and most Americans never come close to seeing the majority of their own country.
As far as Americans not speaking French, in France, this may be out of embarrassment. I can see how it appears that Americans refuse to take the time and learn, and for some perhaps this is true, but on the whole I think a lot of people entering any foreign country worry (needlessly) about being laughed at, and judged by their poor command of this other language. So maybe arrogance is not always the case?
Quelle aide Vae-Primat !
